Bookings through 2050Travel (2050travel.com). > At the foot of some of Patagonia’s most spectacular mountains, Bariloche makes a fine base camp for climbers. Trek Patagonia (trekpatagonia.com) leads day excursions to the Frey Mountain Hut, at 5,200 feet (from $100). Seasoned climbers can make the four-day glacial ascent of 12,000-foot Mount Tronador, a dormant volcano and the Lakes Region’s highest peak. $650 for a solo ascent or $360 per person for a group of three; 2050travel.com. > The best way to soak up the region is on a lakes tour.
